The Naked Truth

She's thinking in this picture "hehehe you can't tell that I have no nappy on!"

Lilah is now in full swing potty training and has been for several weeks. She's a whiz at doing a whiz, but her poo's are another story. She's shameless where she will dump....in the middle of the room, on Auntie Robins new cream colored rug, or in front of her sister trying to enjoy a bowl of watermelon (yes we have a picture of that but I think I'll spare you the gooey details just this one time!) She knows that she needs to go, and will tell me about it after she does it....even at times she's literally gave me shit...in my hand.... EW!!! She knows that it's naughty to go on the floor, but why she's not making the connection to just go on the pot is a bit confusing to me.

We did have a break through yesterday! She did a poo in her potty and proudly brought it to me, now this isn't the first time she's done a nugget in the tiny potty, but it's been a long while since it's happened so this occasion is very note worthy!

These photo's are from a couple weeks ago when we started full day time NO diapers. It was still cold in the mornings so she would wear her leg warmers to keep her warm. Notice Emmy refuses to keep warm clothes on....uuggh!

She loved it! Some of the pictures I got from this morning were sooo funny!

This is the after dinner mess she made! While I was busy cleaning and Dad was in the kitchen she decided to smear her chocolate mouse everywhere!!!

Goodness me!!!!!!!!!

She's a Stinker!

WARNING!!!!

THIS POST CONTAINS:

Lilah did her first poop on the potty! Yay!!! She told me she wanted to sit on here potty so I took off her diaper and she sat there for a minute and then jumped up clapping. I excitedly took a look and I said "there isn't anything there Lilah" and then she pointed to her butt and I could see the poo stuck between her butt cheeks hahahhahahhahah I said HURRY sit back down and then it dropped in hahhaha We jumped up and down and squealed with delight. I gave her a piece of chocolate and then we dance around. We're very proud of her! She was 16 months old ....wowzers!

She new just what to do with it too. She promptly took it into the bathroom and put it in the big potty and then tried to flush it but she couldn't reach it so I had to help her out. She was very happy with herself!

Lilah's gets an A in potty training!

I've been holding off on posting anymore about Lilah's potty training because it's been going great and I was superstitious that it would come to a halt once I posted, but we're full steam ahead. When Abby was still here we did a day of Potty Training Boot Camp and we got her to do the teeny tiny pee in her potty.

The other day she made her daddy very proud when she walked up to him tugging on her diaper and he asked her if she needed to go pee. She shook her head yes so he striped her down and sat her on it and she went!! I wanted so bad to get a picture of her holding her potty and looking proud but my stupid card that goes in my camera was misplaced.

So this brings me to today. Emmy did a pee in Lilah's little potty and I went and cleaned it up and brought it back and there stood Lilah looking at me like "hey... I want to have a turn" so I asked her and she said yes. Wowzers! A full pee in the potty!!!! We were all so excited and jumped around and squealed like we had completely lost out minds. Emmy was congratulating her by saying "very big girl, Lilah".... too cute! Of course after we flush it down the toilet it hits me like a ton of bricks that I should have taken pictures.... I bought a new card yesterday. Oh well.... there will be a next time I thought. I stuck them in the bath and thought I'd keep her bottom free afterward until bedtime. She had a nurse and when I put her down I asked her to go pee on the potty. She promptly went over and filled it again!!! I grabbed the camera and started snapping pictures. I got ones of her holding her potty... dumping in the toilet.... waving good-bye to her pee pee. When I went to upload them.....NO CARD IN THE CAMERA. I forgot to put it back in after uploading photo's this morning. I can't win for loosing!! Again I say....there will be a next time and I will get those Look at me mom, I did a pee pee pictures!!!

Well before I could even get this blog post finished she did pee #3 for tonight! I might be bragging just a little bit *wink wink* but I'm just so darn proud! And here are the photo's..........

Notice she's sitting on it backwards hehe

Lilah - 16 Months

Lilah Asenith Harrison
16 Months Old

Lilah eating Mommy's homemade marshmallows!

This is a long and overdue post about Miss Lilah! In the past 6 weeks she's really gone from my baby to a toddler. She understands everything we say to her and in the past 1-2 weeks she's gone through a signing revelation! It's finally made a click in her head and she knows that it can get her what she wants. She's signing milk, more, food/eat, baby, dog, cat, bird, horse, please, all done, drink, water, cracker, yes, and no. For "yes" she shakes her whole body in a yes hahah. Cat was her first used word after mom and dad and it was also her first sign. Hanging beside the change table in their nursery are three pictures I framed made from felt. A bird, a panda, and a cat. It was this cat that she loved and we'd talk about when I was changing her and Abby was the one to show her the sign for cat and she picked it up from that minute on. This prompted us to really kick in our teaching time and obviously she was ready to learn! She's also starting to say things clearly so we can all understand. The best example of this is "thank you". It's so cute to hear her say it.

I have been extremely impressed and relived that her pain tolerance has seemed to increase. Teething time use to be excruciating for all of us with endless hours of crying no matter how much medicine, teething gel, cold rags, and ice we gave her. Right now she's teething two bottom first molars and one top first molar .....on most days you wouldn't even know it! Every now and then she'll get a little whiny and will have her hand in her mouth so I'll pull out the teething gel and that's all it takes to get her over the hump.

Her over all happiness has increase 100% along with her independence. She's not afraid of situations as much as she was before and most times she'll allow other children and people to approach her without her freaking out. She's even been letting strangers pick her up (not strangers to me, but to her) I never thought I'd see that day come lol. She loves to dance, climb, and swing and over all has become a little daredevil just like her sister, but she is a little bit accident prone. I don't think we have ever made it though a day without her bumping her head at least once and about 10 times a day is more normal. We are always saying "aawww your poor little head".

The most resent update would be the beginning of our potty training. We decided to do the Potty Training Boot Camp and within the first hour she did a teeny tiny pee in her potty. Since it's so cold right now we are limited on when we can do the diaper free time, so it's going to be relaxed and when the house gets all toasty and warm, but I think it'll be no time and she'll be using her potty like a big girl. Emmy was an broke early at 19 months, but Lilah may really blow her out of the water with this one! What can I say? I've got really brilliant children :) but if it takes her till 19 months it won't bother me in the slightest.

Out and about today...

Emmy has made me so proud today! We took the girls to the park this morning and then went shopping for a couple of hours. I brought her potty along and thought we'd give it a try without a diaper on. (Usual for short trips I don't put one on her, but for trips that are over an hour I do) She used her potty in the parking lot when asked to before we went into the shops and I was surprised how 'down to business' she was about it, haha . Later on about an hour into shopping she told us that she had to pee and was doing a funny dance in her stroller. I grabbed her up and headed for the bathrooms...praying that I'd get her there in time before she peed on me! As soon as I sat her down she opened the flood gates. Success!! On our way home.... about an hour after that she told me that she needed to go. Because I don't know how long she can hold on from the time she tells me she needs to go till she would truly pee her pants I thought it was best to stop and pull out her potty even though we were about 4 min's from home. Third time around.... she sat down and did her business straight away. I could not be any more proud of her!

We are officially done with diapers during the day!! I've been working on our night time routine as well. She doesn't like to cooperate with me when she's tired and gets upset if I ask her to go pee, but since I've been more consistent the past few nights with asking her to do it and doing it a tiny bit earlier instead of waiting until she's super tired has worked well. We're one step closer! I'll be switching Lilah over to cloth diapers real soon and then in 5 months we'll do a "potty training boot camp" weekend with her and next year at this time I should be diaper free except for Lilah's over night diaper. Man.... does that sound good!

Potty Training Update

I haven't had to change a dirty diaper for Emmy in over 2 months now! I don't miss those stinky things! She wears a diaper to bed at night and in the morning we take it off straight away. Half the time she's peed in it and the other half of the time it's dry. She also went diaper free at nap time for a month straight without peeing and in one week we had 3 nap time mistakes, so we're back to putting one on her after she falls asleep. I'd love to know how much money we've saved on diapers already. I have also been lazy when it comes to outings. If we're going to be out for long stretches then I have been putting her in a diaper rather than trying to get her to pee in public toilets or finding a spot to set up her training potty. The laziness needs to stop so we are now going to concentrate on public peeing haha that sounds funny.

Over Due Update

The coloring is a little funny on their photo's. They were swimming this past Sunday at Grandma Jan & Grandpa Kingsley's house under the shade cloth... Lilah looks green and Emmy looks orange. Oh well....

Lilah
Crawling is just around the corner. I feel it can happen at any minute now or could still be up to two weeks away. She's able to move across the room now but not with a method of intention, it's more of a stringing together a bunch of small goals. Does that make sense? She'll try to get something slightly out of reach and she'll do a sitting spinning turn and reach, get it, then set her sights on something else. She'll also try to get up on all fours and get so made that she can't just GO.

Last night I tried giving her a bottle of water instead of the boob just to see if she wanted a drink in the night when she wakes rather than a feed. Boy did I make her mad! So I figured okay this time you wanted to eat...maybe next time, nope, just made her so made again. haha

Emmy
Potty training! Boy has that been going well. She does her business most times without being asked to and then she'll collect her potty and carry it to the bathroom and dump it and flush it. I go behind her and give it a good rinse and put it back in the living room. She has begun to pee on command and will do it before we are leaving the house and will stay dry on outings, bit of we are going on a long drive I will put on a cloth diaper as protection but generally don't need to as it will be dry on arrival and removel. We also put on a cloth diaper for her nap time after she's fallen asleep and will take it off as soon as she wakes up. Half the time it's dry still and the other half she's gone in it. That being said we definitely keep her in a diaper for night too. 90% of the time she's done a pee in her diaper by morning, but we do get the odd morning where she's dry and we love that! We're following the Fellom Method of potty training and you can find additional information about it here. After 90 days of what we call "naked butt" then we will start putting panties on her. I should add a count down ticker to our 90th day!! I think I know a little girl that will be needing lots of panties for her 2nd birthday!!

Potty Training Update

Emmy did her first poo in her potty!! She was hiding behind the chair where she likes to do her poo's in her diaper, and I told her to come out and as she came running out yelling peepee she flopped down on her potty and did the smallest poop known to man, but beggars can't be choosers.... a poop is a poop!!

I also took her out two separate times today for an hour each with no diaper on. I was prepared for her to have an accident, but to my delight she stayed dry and went potty straight away once we got home.

I am so excited and really hope we keep going in this direction! If she keeps up she might even be night trained before she's 2! Talk about saving some money :)

One Pee, Two Pee, Three Pee, FOUR!

We've just spent the last hour doing the potty dance! I was putting away baby clothes in the nursery when I realized that Emmy needed to pee so I sat her on her potty and asked her to go and she did! I'm sure it was because she just couldn't hold it anymore, but who knows... she is a pretty smart little cookie! I made the biggest deal that I could out of it and we paraded to the kitchen to get some candy and flushed it away. With in 5 mins she did another pee in her potty, carried it to the toilet and dumped it, flushed it, and then looked at me and asked for some candy. LOL So far she's done at least 12 pees.... I've lost count. She sits down and turns it on, and as soon as some squirts out she shuts it off as she jumps up and says PEE PEE and claps her hands and starts jumping. Too cute. I am so happy and I think this is some serious progress and finally some payoff for my efforts! For the record books she is 20 months & 4 days old. I can't wait for the "She's fully potty trained" post. Hopefully it won't be too much longer!!

Body Function Sympathy

I picked up Emmy a book about being a big girl and using the potty the other day and it has a flush button that makes a flush sound. Super cute right?

Well she likes her book and last night when we were reading it to her and got to the part where it says "sometimes you'll have accidents and that's okay" we said "uh oh she made a pee pee on the floor" and there was a picture of a little girl looking upset and looking at her pee. It must have been a very convincing picture because it really stressed Emmy out and made her cry. Trying not to laugh we told her it was okay and finished the book and then turned it back to that page to see if that was truly what she was crying about and she burst into tears AGAIN. I totally don't understand why this upsets her so. She's never been punished or made to feel bad for peeing on the floor. All I can think is that the little girls face is so sad and she must have sympathy for her.

This morning she brought me her potty book to read and we sat down and sure enough we got to the accident page and here come the tears. Too funny!

a real stinker

It's been a while since I've posted a good poop story haha and lucky you I have one for you today!

Emmy usually does her business every morning like clockwork so I've been trying to use this to my advantage and sit her on the potty to catch it and show her what the potty is for. She knows what her potty is and will go to it when asked "where's your potty" and she can sign "potty" but I don't think she knows that what's in the diaper is suppose to go in the pretty plastic thingy. She has both the Cushy Tushy that goes on the big potty and a Disney Princess floor potty. So when I've tried to catch it... she hasn't gone and she has held it and eventually I put on a cloth diaper and she'll go at a weird time.

After her lunch today I changed her diaper which was just a pee and then gave her some naked time while I folded laundry. She took off for the living room to play with her blocks and I'm not kidding... I was out of the room for 5 mins tops and as I come around the corner with diaper in hand and there she is... squatting playing with her blocks and about a foot from her is a little log she laid. I was so surprised and wanted to fall over laughing. She gets to enjoy naked time several times a day and this is the first time in 14 months she's ever done a poo!

I made a big deal out of it and we put it in the princess potty and then I had her sit on it and then we did the march to the big potty to say goodbye to it and then she got to wash her hands which is a favorite for her.

We will do the 3 day Potty Boot Camp in mid June and I hope these little baby steps will make the weekend successful! If not... we'll wait 6 weeks and then give it another try!
