ABC's & Educational Materials

I found some awesome free printable ABC pages from Mr. Printables. Emmy's getting into practicing printing on a daily basis and is now driving me crazy (in a good way) with asking me how to spell words and which letters to use.  I thought a large school type ABC display would be helpful.  Lilah is in full swing of learning all of her letters as well so it's a win win!  If you want your own set of ABC flash cards with several different options for printing and size go HERE.
We've been watching some new educational DVD's that I'm happy with called Meet the Sight Words made by Preschool Prep Company.
"Many words don't follow basic decoding rules and are taught in pre-k and kindergarten classrooms as "sight words", "instant words", "high frequency words" or "star words". A new reader finds sight words very frustrating until they are memorized. A good reader will be able to instantly recognize "sight words" without having to "figure them out". Preschool Prep Company makes learning sight words fun and easy. Now children can master "sight words" with the same rapid speed that they learned letters, numbers, shapes and colors. Meet the Sight Words is used in schools across the country."
Emmy's watched them several times and she'll repeat the words each time after the DVD does.  She has her notepad and pencil ready and she writes the words down quickly.  It was her own idea to do the writing while watching the program and I couldn't be prouder.  She's a self motivated learner....a little sponge as her Grandma's say..... I hope that she will always enjoy learning as much as she does now!

Emmy's Place: Come and Play

This was Emmy's sign she made all by herself. She told me that it said "Emmy's: Play Here" She put it in the front window and said that when people that have children drive by they will know that they can stop and play here if they want to meet a new friend. hahhah How cute is that!?!?! Plus I think it's pretty awesome that she did this all by herself ( 3 3/4 yrs old ) and she got "PL A/O" when trying to write "PLAY"   My little smarty pants!
