Ashlee's 3rd Birthday Party

The kids had a great time at Ashlee's Birthday Party last weekend. They really loved the jumping castle. I only got my camera out once since I had my hands full with Lilah most of the day. And I thought I had gotten more pictures than I really did. It took Lilah about 3 hours to warm up and want to go play and by the end of the party she was wanting to go into the bouncing castle but the company people were there to take it down. She was not very happy about this haha.

Dora: City of Lost Toys Live Show

Kim and I got the girls tickets to the Dora: City of Lost Toys Live Show. I'm not a Dora fan at all and out of all the shows we've taken Emmy to this was the only one that made me want to shoot myself, but that being said....the kids loved it! It was almost two hours long but the tickets were double the price of usual kid shows so it was nice to get our moneys worth. We also had the lounge sets which made it sooooo comfy for Kim and I plus it made it easier for the kids to stand up or climb around without bugging other people. Overall it was a fun family night and I've never seen Emmy so excited. She totally understood what was going on when we got to the theater and she was all about it! I'm really looking forward to our next shows coming up. We have The Fairies in July and Play School in August!

Mothers Day 2010

For Mother's Day this year I got a very pretty necklace called "Pinkie Peas in the Pod" and I really love it. It's Emmy and Lilah my little pea's. The girls are really into necklaces now, especially Emmy. She loves to look at what I'm wearing and I told her that one pearl is Lilah and the other one is her. Any time I'm wearing it she has to look really close at it and tell me about it and who they represent. I love that!


Another nice treat was our kitchen upgrade, the dishwasher, allowing us to join the rest of civilized mankind! Finally!! It really makes a difference in the amount of time we spend in the kitchen doing the dirty work. Thanks Husband!!! xoxoxooxox

Medieval Festival at Gumeracha

Last Saturday we went out to Gumeracha for the 4th Annual Medieval Festival. I was so excited to see all the costumes that people would wear and was a little bummed out that I didn't have one lol. If I have the extra time between now and next year I plan on making medieval dresses for the girls and myself...hehe It was a lot like the Feast of the Hunters Moon in West Lafayette. They had lots of food options and merchants selling anything and everything medieval. If you were in the market for a real sword or armor this was the place to be! There was a parade with different groups of people dressed up. I didn't know such groups/clubs existed, and I must say this struck me as a bit nerdy.....what would these people do at meetings??? haha They had demonstrations of bow and arrow, jousting, knight fights, Celtic moon dancers, a petting zoo, and lots more!

I think the knights and women in large dresses made her a little nervous because they were so close to us when the walked by.

This Knight looked just like James Blunt. He road up so close to us and Emmy really thought the horse was very cool! Her dad asked her the other day if she'd like to have one and she said YES! I'd love to board a horse someday close to our house. When the girls get old enough to start riding we'll look into it more.

Lilah Can Walk!!

Lilah's been standing up and hanging on to things to walk, and will walk good when you hold her hands for a while now, but she's finally mastered the "I'm walking....starting to fall but now I'm steadying myself and taking more steps!" It won't be long now and she'll be able to run around like crazy and play with Emmy better. She also gets so jealous of Emmy playing outside and most days I let her go out too and don't mind if she gets dirty, but if it's cold or rainy I can't let her out because she'll get too cold and wet crawling around on the ground.....walking will be the answer for it all!!

Our New Playgroup

After meeting a fellow Gawler mom and having a fun little play date with her lovely girls Ava and Taylor we decided to go ahead and join the Zion Playgroup where they attend. Last year around this time I did lots of looking for a good one and everyone I talked to had only great things to say about this place so it was already at the top of my list and now that Lilah is a bit older it'll be much easier to do these kind of things.

I was expecting it to be similar to the Kinder Gym we went to last winter, but I was delighted to see that it was way better! They had craft stations set up all over the place. Gluing projects, painting, ink stamping, play-doh areas. Plus lots of make believe stuff like dress up and a kitchen and baby dolls. There was a huge sand pit area and really nice play house with a slide. A piano for the kids to bang on. They had obstacle course type things laid out for the kids to climb, walk, and crawl through. It was so much fun to jump around and do craft after craft with no set up and minimal clean up.... I think I was enjoying it just as much as the kids were! It's so much fun getting to do these things with them.

After an hour of play the teachers ring the bell and everyone helps in doing a quick clean up then the children all go inside and sit down on a carpeted area and eat their packed lunches while the teacher reads them a story and then she gets out her guitar and they all sing kid songs. It was so much fun! We don't know most of the Australian kid songs so we couldn't sing along to most of them. I think I'll have to ask one of the staff members if they could make a list of the song names so I can look them up and teach the girls, or maybe I can find an Australian kid songs CD.

We'll go once a week for an hour and half and it's a pay as you go system and that makes it so nice and hassle free. I don't ever have to worry about getting our money's worth or arranging for a make up session and the best part of all is that it's only $4.50 per session per family! Way cheaper than Kinder Gym and double the family fun!

Lilah's ready for playgroup too! Also she's wearing the new shirt I embellished for her the other day. I designed the applique myself and hand stitched it on! This was my first time making one so I'm very proud of how it turned out hehhe

We got to playgroup early so I could fill out the paper work so the kids got to play on their own for a little bit and had all the toys to themselves. Lilah was completely enjoying this!

Ashley & Ashlee

My sister Ashley is finally a nurse!! Congrats little sister on completely 4 grueling years at Purdue! We wish we could have been there to see you walk ( thanks to you tube we did ) and give you a big kiss and hug!!

Yesterday we went to celebrate Ashlee's 2 Birthday! It was a Wiggles theme since that is her favorite show and the party was super fun with the Wiggles Jumping Castle and games they played. It was so cute to see all the little girls running around enjoying themselves.

4 Little Ladies

I took the girls the other day to visit their Grandma & Grandpa Harrison and what a surprise... their cousins Bethany & Jade were there too. We thought this would be the perfect time to try and get a good picture of them all together. I have never laughed so hard when I saw these pictures. Total cute chaos!

Emmy has been able to recognize and say the letter "E" for about a month now and it's terrible of me to have not caught it on video sooner than today, but I just grabbed the camera and did it the best I could. Sorry for the poor quality.

You can hear her say it once, but of course you can't make a toddler do anything unless they want to do it and when I ask her to say it again with the camera on her I just capture her telling me how it is hahaha

a real stinker

It's been a while since I've posted a good poop story haha and lucky you I have one for you today!

Emmy usually does her business every morning like clockwork so I've been trying to use this to my advantage and sit her on the potty to catch it and show her what the potty is for. She knows what her potty is and will go to it when asked "where's your potty" and she can sign "potty" but I don't think she knows that what's in the diaper is suppose to go in the pretty plastic thingy. She has both the Cushy Tushy that goes on the big potty and a Disney Princess floor potty. So when I've tried to catch it... she hasn't gone and she has held it and eventually I put on a cloth diaper and she'll go at a weird time.

After her lunch today I changed her diaper which was just a pee and then gave her some naked time while I folded laundry. She took off for the living room to play with her blocks and I'm not kidding... I was out of the room for 5 mins tops and as I come around the corner with diaper in hand and there she is... squatting playing with her blocks and about a foot from her is a little log she laid. I was so surprised and wanted to fall over laughing. She gets to enjoy naked time several times a day and this is the first time in 14 months she's ever done a poo!

I made a big deal out of it and we put it in the princess potty and then I had her sit on it and then we did the march to the big potty to say goodbye to it and then she got to wash her hands which is a favorite for her.

We will do the 3 day Potty Boot Camp in mid June and I hope these little baby steps will make the weekend successful! If not... we'll wait 6 weeks and then give it another try!

Mothers Day Picnic

We went to Parra Wirra National Park (about 25 min from our house) for a Mothers Day picnic with the family. The girls had a blast playing together. They got to run around and took a little trip to the play ground. Despite the cloudy cold weather we had lots of fun and had some wild life encounters.

Busted & Bubbles

Hahaha doesn't she look like a Glow Worm here?? and so serious LOL

Lilah has been reaching out for her toys and giving them a whack when she's laying on her activity mat. In general she hates the thing and will only lay there for a few minutes before she cries, but there are the rare moments when shes fascinated by it and will watch the hanging toys and play with them. I'm going to put it up for a week or two and then pull it out again and try her with it.... and I'll be glad to be rid of one of the brightly colored things that have taken over my living room lol She's also not a big fan of her swing but enjoys taking naps in it. Shes in love with the mobile over our bed and the one over her change table. She will give them the biggest smiles and watch them for as long as I let her. I put down a clean towel on her change table and let her go diaper free for about 10 min or so and she loves it. She'll get her legs kicking around and you know that it has to feel good having all that bulky stuff off! Then I give her a lotion rub and then some baby powder to dry her up. That's our special little ritual we do everyday! Gotta love it!!

I grabbed the camera yesterday morning and snapped this because I thought it was cute that she had climbed into her toy basket. She's still in her PJ's and hair a mess too! Adorable.

Well I went into the kitchen to make us some breakfast and I heard a crash and then the I'm seriously hurt cry and came running around the corner to find she had spilled out of the basket. In trying to find where it was that she was hurt or if she was just scared I caught a glimpse of her upper lip when giving her pacifier to her. Our first busted lip! I felt so sorry for her. She happily took a dose of pain medicine, begrudgingly let me put on some tooth numbing stuff and then I gave her a cold wash cloth to suck on. She was fine after that and kept showing me where it was that she was hurt. I had to snap a picture of it since I unknowingly captured the before.



Later that day we went to the shops and we came across a bubble machine and I snatched it up quickly (by far the best toy to buy!!) and it was the first thing we played with when we got home. Bubbles are so much fun! She got fairly upset when it ran out of bubble solution and we had used nearly the whole bottle but I wanted to save some for later.... she got over it. I have a recipe for homemade solution so after I try it out if it's any good I'll post it!
