Cousins - Visitng June 2012

Auntie Lia and Uncle Adrian took them out for ice cream!
Yes that water is FREEZING COLD but it didn't stop the kids!
Bethany wore her face paint for days and wouldn't wash it off because she loved her unicorn so much!
This was our practice PRINCESS CASTLE Cake for the girls upcoming Princes Party.  I'm really glad that I ended up doing this because of all the circumstances surrounding their birthday we where unable to make this big time consuming cake, but I dont' think they minded so much.... because Kiera showed up at the party!!

Sand Castles, Sun, & Fun

The girls and I made another sand castle at Horseshoe Bay over the Easter Holidays.  This has been our best to date and I think we need to start branching into bringing our own prepared decorations.  I've had the idea for a while to cut out and glue little flags onto toothpicks to use as flags and flag polls to put on top of each tower.  We usually put shells and coral on top of the towers but because of the weight its not very long and the towers begin to crumble.  I need to do some looking around online for other decorating idea's.  I'd love to come up with something that the girls can make and play with that is "people-like" for their castles.  Something that is more organic and beach-like rather than plastic from the store. Maybe we should hot glue some shell's together to make people and animals like we've done in the past to make sculptures. hhuuummmmmm........the wheels are turning.

A Note to all the Grandmothers:  The girls had swim shirts and hats on for the day, and for the very last portion of the day before we left the girls wanted their wet shirts off because they were a bit cold with the wind.  They were smothered in sunblock.  The hats was a battle by this point we gave up as we were getting ready to leave.  Don't worry! xo Sari

Sand Castles

Sunday we took the girls to Henley Beach. This was their first time going to one of my favorite spots! ( one of the perks for moving out here ) So it was nice and warm at home so we figured it would be just bearably to go to the beach, and we were right. It was very cold and windy, but Emmy loved playing in the sand and building sand castles with her dad. The sand on top wasn't wet enough to get us wet, but if you dug down a little bit it was damp enough to pack and hold shape. Dad would make them and she'd tear them down. Lilah didn't enjoy herself so much, but she was all bundled up and cocooned in the sling so she was just hibernating.

After that we went to a nice little park where Emmy got to swing high on the swings and run over a drawbridge and go down a big slide. I was watching from the car while I was feeding Lilah and I could see her do a big run across... sit her butt down on this HUGE tall slide and went down all by herself. She's such a little dare devil. Kim said that she gave him a nervous smile and then just went. So trusting!

Pete and REpeat haha She's definitely got her dad's eyes! And Emmy is just her dad all over!

Bad news is her Baby Dance class has been canceled for this term due to some health problems going on with the teacher's son. It was over before it began, but we'll sign up for next term. We'll go this week to Kinder Gym and see if that's something we want to sign up for. I'm sure it'll be a blast for her. From the pictures there's slides and a huge ball pit and places to jump and large play things. It was a huge hassle to take the stroller to baby dance since I had to go down a flight of stairs, but hopefully I'll be able to take one here for Lilah and it will work out great.

beach fun

We went for a day trip to Wallaroo the other day. Emmy enjoyed her time in the water and playing with the wet sand. It was a hot day but with the beach breeze it was a bit cool so we didn't get to play in the water as much as I would have liked to, but that just means we'll have to head to the beach again.
