Pretty Little Earrings

We took Lilah to get her ear's pierced yesterday and she handled it so well! I was really prepared for her to cry and cry, but she let out the initial cry and then was done within a few seconds. I remember Emmy sniffled all the way out of the mall and Lilah didn't even do that. She was a total trooper! There might be hope for her yet :)

Around the house...

Bethany and Jade came over for a play date on Sunday and we were so lucky to get some hot weather before all this rain has set in! We started off with a little bit of water play in a bowl and before we knew it the pool was out and naked babies everywhere! hahah

This picture cracks me up of Jade!

Emmy coming around the corner carrying a glass of water... thinking she was going to get away with it since she was acting cute. Yeah right!!

Mom took this one. Part girl, Part frog!

Sitting up after nap time...

Lilah is nearly sitting up now. It won't long and she'll be able to do it all by herself. She just woke up from a nap here and I popped her onto our bed and she was being all cute. She looks so grown up but so tiny all at the same time.

This is what dinner looks like before dad gets home. The kids are always hungry before the official dinner so we hang out in the kitchen and pick around an various foods. Brodie is always around during feeding time for obvious reasons haha Smile kids! :) Emmy also has two new teeth. Yay! She's been handling this round of teething much better than the last one.

Also... Carolyn & my grandmother must think this place is a mad house with insane children. When ever I'm on the phone trying to talk to them Emmy starts screaming and arguing with me over everything and Lilah becomes unsettled, but as soon as I get off the phone it's peace and quite. EVERY TIME!! Why is this!?!? I'm not lying.... look at the smiling faces in the pictures LOL

Cute photo's for you photo lovers!

I thought you would all like to see some cute photo's today!

Emmy & Jade enjoying some fruit on a stick on Kim's birthday.

Lilah and some bath time splashes!

uumm what are you eating? Poor little thing is still tired!

Could breakfast get any better than this!?
Emmy showing us how to eat a watermelon.

Sunny Day

Yesterday had such nice weather. I used it to my advantage to get lots of things done outside. Including taking out screens and washing windows inside and out. Brodie got a much over due bath even tough it was cut a bit short.... sorry you didn't get conditioner Brodie! Emmy loved being outside as usual but this time she got to play in all the water. I tried to find her little pool, but couldn't find where it had been stored from last year. She didn't mind playing in the sprinkler and a bowl of water. Lilah sat in the stroller with her cute little hat on in the shade watching me work and her sister play. Yay for warm weather!!

Another First For Lilah!

Poor sweet Lilah was so upset last night and we couldn't figure out what was wrong but we gave her some pain medicine and then I popped her into the sling and she finally fell asleep after about an hour of crying on and off.  This morning she wasn't a super happy baby either, but I gave her another dose of pain medicine and off we went to playgroup.  The pain relief had warn off on our trip home (totally my fault... I forgot to give her more) and she did some serious screaming.  When we got home I gave her another dose of  medicine and thought this time I'll rub some of it into her gums and there was the sharp little culprit! Her bottom left and a two whole months sooner than her sisters first tooth!  I'll try snapping a picture of it this weekend.  I'll have better luck with her daddy home to help make her giggle!!

Do we look alike?

The numbers are finally in....

I've been meaning to update their heights and weights now going on 2 weeks.

Emmy at exactly 18 months was 25 lbs 2 oz (11.4 kg) and 83.5 cm tall.

Lilah was a chubby 16 lbs 1 oz (7.29kg) so I imagine she's a full 18 lbs now and she was 63 cm long.

Just for comparisons sake Emmy at 6 months old weight 19 lbs 4 oz (8.82 kg) and was 70 cm long

Happy Fathers Day

To celebrate Fathers Day we're having a family picnic at Auntie Robins & Uncle Bob's house. This morning the girls brought Daddy a pretty card with 5x7's (inscriptions below with pictures) and a framed Purdue picture of them (the one above) for his desk at work. There is still one present to come and I'll post about that once he gets it.

Daddy,

You are the best dad because you hug me tight when I have trouble going to sleep. You are the best because you swing me every night. You are the best because you play kissy face with me in the mirror. You are the best dad because you are my dad and I love you very much!

Love, Lilah xo

Dear Daddy,

I love you very much! I love when you let me play with your hair when I'm tired. I love when you dance with me like Barbie & the prince. I love when we get to "garden" together in the backyard and I pick flowers for you. I love when you play "chase me" and I run as fast as I can. I know you love me very much too!

Love, Your Emmy Girl

Tonsillitis - Guilt - Happy Ending

I took Lilah to the doctor on Tuesday for some discoloration on her foot which will be a whole separate post later. So she and Emmy had caught a runny nose and sinus headache two weeks ago today but it was on the mend (at this point it had been just over a week and I am always told that viruses take 14 days to run their course). I told the doctor that she had been crying and crying the day before and my husband thought her ears were bothering her. He looked her over really well and came back with Tonsillitis! Man do I feel like the worst mom in the world!! I was able to hold back the tears until I got home and then I totally lost it. I felt SO SO guilty!! I didn't know why she was waking up lots during the night and crying tons and the whole time her poor little throat must have hurt so bad!! We had given her some pain medicine, but I didn't think it was helping so I didn't give it to her every four hours. At one point on Monday I had tried everything and she wouldn't settle so I laid her down for about 15 min and let her cry which was terrible in itself but to now know what was really going on just breaks my heart!

My poor little sick girl.

I had no idea that you could have tonsillitis and not run a fever. I also expected Lilah's symptoms to be less since she's a breast baby and since Emmy was doing really well I didn't put too much to the sickness. I'm very thankful I took her to the doctor for the unrelated problem. If I hadn't then she might still be suffering or her condition getting worse.

As soon as I got home I gave her medicine, fed her well and then gave her some of another kind of medicine so she got a good amount of pain relief. I could immediately tell when the medicines kicked in and she was feeling better. She also slept that night with only getting up once for a feed and a dose of meds.

I'm happy to report that she is feeling good now and is 99% better. Here's a little video I took the other night at bedtime. Emmy is mothering her like a little hen *smiles*

Officially 18 & 6 Months Old

Wow! Emmy is now 1 1/2 and Lilah 6 months. How can it be that this much time has passed!?

Emmy is saying a new word nearly everyday by imitation. She hasn't said a naughty word yet, but I'm sure it's not far away since she's her fathers daughter! Her climbing habits are still strong but she's been doing it less because it's something she's conquered, but if she gets the chance she'll climb into the kitchen sink and many times I've found her in the bathroom sink. She's so fast too! I'll be changing Lilah's diaper and I'll hear Emmy go running down the hall, bash the bathroom door open (with enough force she's learned that it WILL open) so I head down to grab her and she's already in the sink!

Her pretend play has really improved in the past few weeks. She has one Barbie and one Bratz doll and she's so gentle with them. She'll brush their hair and pretend walk them on the floor. I would have never given her a Barbie to play with at this age, but she got her hands on one and really liked it so the rest is history. Needless to say.... I bet Santa will be bringing some Bratz & Barbies this Christmas!

She's very much a girlie girl. She loves dress up, babies, purses, and my make up. We paint our toe nails together and she got her finger nails painted for the first time the other day. You can tell how proud she is of them because you will catch her just looking at them and wiggling them around! Too cute! She likes necklaces and bracelets, but often brakes them by accident.

She has alot of empathy for her sister. Lets say Lilah grabs something and knocks something down and makes a loud noise or a mess and I'll say "Oh Lilah.. what a mess!" Emmy will get upset because she thinks I'm upset and it's Lilahs fault. She'll get this horrible look on her face and start to cry and will run over and hug Lilah. Of course I'm not mad in the least bit and it takes me by surprise when she has this reaction and I feel bad that I must have said it too loudly. I then reassure her that it's okay and mommy's not mad and that accidents happen. I need to be more mindful of my tone and loudness since they are so much more sensitive to it than us jaded adults.

The look on her face says it all!!

TOTAL MONKEY!!

Lilah is getting to be a real chubber! She's laughing lots and finds almost anything we do funny. She's eating more solids, but really isn't that much interested in them. Emmy didn't start eating a lot of food until the 7-8 month mark so I'm expecting Lilah to do the same.

She's really close to being able to sit up. Sometimes I can prop her up and she'll sit for up to a min before she slowly slumps over. Her nights are starting to regulate again and she's having longer sleeps and fewer feeds, but she still nurses usually twice between 9pm-6am and I'm not bothered by this and am happy to feed her during the night.

For a while there I was wondering if she was getting enough milk because we were going through a period of her latching on and pulling off and getting upset up to 10 times during a feed. I started to freak out and gave her a formula bottle and she sucked it down. To make a long story short I ended up pumping to help increase my supply, but I'd get more than enough during a pump so I know there was enough milk there for her. I think she was going through a growing spurt and she must have just wanted alot of milk and as fast as she could get it and now she's settled down and back into a calmer routine.

If I have learned anything in the past year and half it's that they will always keep you guessing and when you think you have them figured out they will change it up on you!!

Wearing the tutu I made for her!

Eating some Broccoli the Baby Led Weaning way!

Update: I wrote this a few days ago waiting to get there weight and heights to finish off the post and in that amount of time we have taken 1 step forward with Lilah and 4 steps back. She's back to crying lots and up 4-6 times a night. I have no idea what's going on and it's very upsetting because I don't like seeing my baby upset. She's offered tons of food and breast and formula so it's not a food issue. I've tried pain medicine for teething or misc pain, but I don't find any teething bumps in her gums nor does the pain meds seem to help and she also doesn't seem to me to be in pain. I still need to get out there blue books and post there check up's and weight. I'll have to do that in another post since it seems my time has been striped back to the bare minimum. Lilah has just woke up from a SHORT nap so I must end attend to her....

frozen goodness

My mom made some homemade grape jelly and we had left over juice so she decided to make some popsicles with it. Emmy really enjoyed the 100% organic & sugar free treats! Too funny!

picking pumpkins at grandma's

Emmy went out to pick some pumpkins with her Grandma Betsy from her pumpkin patch. It was a very warm and sunny day to enjoy some outside fresh air.

She loved to watch from the wagon that grandma pulled her around it!

Then the pumpkins started to be stacked up around here.

Awww she's a pumpkin too!

What a fun day she had!

overdue updates

Pictures taken yesterday in her cute froggie outfit!

I've been very bad about not updating lately. Lots of activities going on for us and we've been super busy. Emmy's really changed lately. She's getting pretty good at feeding her self rice crackers, cucumbers, and broccoli. At first she didn't like broccoli but after a second go at it she found out that it was yummy. She's also like a baby bird and wants whatever I'm eating. She has a new passion for grapefruit which cracks me up but I won't be surprised if she'll grow up and be able to eat a lemon with out blinking an eye like her dad! Her sitting up is coming along well. She'll sit for long periods of time by herself before toppling over and other times it takes her 5 seconds to fall over. Her fear of strangers has diminished alot lately. I think she may still be leery of men (but that's not really a problem haha).

I'm really looking forward to this weekend. We're going to the baby shower my family is having for me and Emmy's going to get to play with 3 or 4 other babies her age or a bit older. It should be a good laugh and lots of chaos.

As for the new pregnancy everything is good and just moving along. I have felt the baby flipping about a few times and I'm really looking forward to peeking in with an ultrasound soon!
