A Wedding Story

Our First Wedding
September 25, 2010
Chris & Renee

Emmy's waiting for the action to start. I told her that the girls were going to be dressed up really fancy like Barbie is and to go see if she could see them.

Aaww We loved your dress Renee!

The Bridesmaid dresses were just gorgeous and I really loved the color. The bouquets were so pretty and they had the exact shade of their dress in roses too! Markos was so handsome in his little tux! I think my girls would have made perfect flower girls..... what's up with that Renee!?! haha The girls were absolute angels throughout the entire ceremony! I had my fingers crossed and was fairly confident that they'd do well, but you never know.... they can always pull out a freak show when you least expect it!!

The only picture I got with her looking directly at me smiling. I was trying to snap one of them together, but the girls were not making it easy!

"They're basically moments in which you're in touch with the meaning of life, when your relationship to the rest of the universe makes sense."

Turning around to ask her sister to come up the path with her.
"Lilah, come on.....come with me."

She was in a great mood, so that isn't a mean face although it looks like it. I caught her at just the right moment saying something. It's such a devilish look though!

I just love how she's holding and looking at the flower.

I didn't set out to only take pictures of Emmy, but Lilah didn't want to walk in the grass and when I tried to get her picture she wasn't interested, so it kind of turned into an Emmy pictorial! haha

"Occasionally in life there are those moments of unutterable fulfillment which cannot be completely explained by those symbols called words. Their meanings can only be articulated by the inaudible language of the spirit."

Not my favorite picture of us, but it's nice to have at least one where we're all in it. The sun was in our eyes and poor Lilah didn't like that at all! I do like that Daddy's tie matches the girls! How sweet!! After this we said goodbye to everyone and headed out for dinner as we were unable to attend the reception because we couldn't find a sitter and their was a no children policy. I was pretty disappointed I missed out on the party and after seeing the girl's fabulous behavior during the ceremony I think they might have done well for the reception too, but again... you never know. In the end it made for a fun family day. I love getting the girls all dressed up and they really enjoy it to so I think they'll be attending weddings with us from now on *smiles*

When Emmy first went into the field she was saying "whoo hooo fairies, where are you" haha I think it's about time that I get out the fairy ring we made last year and put it back up in the yard and wait and see what special treats they will bring us! I think it will be such a fun tradition to do each spring!!

Family Fun Day at the StarPlex

The StarPlex, our local gym, had a Free Family Fun Day so we packed up the kids and headed up there. It was a pretty cold day so it was really nice to have some great indoor activities! The girls to go play at the Kinder Gym, pet baby farm animals, jump in the jumping castle, meet the mascot...a giant star fish (whoever designed that costume was an idiot!! It was a giant star fish with a guy in it so all you could see of him was two legs sticking out...this means he had no arms or hands to use to catch himself if he fell or to hug children. Because he was in this giant thing he couldn't see when children got close to him so really he was a big walking hazard..... but the girls loved him and I was laughing so hard watching him try to wiggle his fin to say hello.) They also got to got to swim, do face painting, and play with some toys in the child care room. It was such a fun day and the best part of it was that it was FREE! Oh....they also got a goodie bag with toys, balloons, and candy.

Lilah loves the ball pits and slides so this was so fun for her!

Whoosh! Here comes Emmy!

Didn't take long and she was out of the ball pit and onto the trampoline.

This was one of my favorite parts. The had bunnies, lambs, chickens, goats and ducks. Emmy really liked the bunnies and Lilah seemed to love it all. She just wondered around all happy. You'll notice they are dressed the same here...which I never do because I think it's cuter when the are coordinating rather than matching.....but I thought it would be helpful to spot them amongst all other children, and it was!

Emmy's FIRST face paint! She held perfectly still and was very proud of her "make up"!

This is my true water baby!! She loves water so much and has no fear. She wants to be in it no mater how much water it is (the kitchen sink or a huge pool), she LOVES sticking her face in it and her most favorite thing is laying down in it!

Not only is she laying down here.........she's actually pushing so hard backwards that you have to fight to keep her from going under. Silly girl!!

Emmy is very caution in the pool and likes to stay right beside you, towards the end of their swimming session she was walking around in the deeper water by herself and it was a struggle to get them to come out of the pool when it came time to go home!!

Medieval Festival at Gumeracha

Last Saturday we went out to Gumeracha for the 4th Annual Medieval Festival. I was so excited to see all the costumes that people would wear and was a little bummed out that I didn't have one lol. If I have the extra time between now and next year I plan on making medieval dresses for the girls and myself...hehe It was a lot like the Feast of the Hunters Moon in West Lafayette. They had lots of food options and merchants selling anything and everything medieval. If you were in the market for a real sword or armor this was the place to be! There was a parade with different groups of people dressed up. I didn't know such groups/clubs existed, and I must say this struck me as a bit nerdy.....what would these people do at meetings??? haha They had demonstrations of bow and arrow, jousting, knight fights, Celtic moon dancers, a petting zoo, and lots more!

Lilah taking a nap in her wrap.
I love carrying her this way.... it's so snugly and comfortable like a big hug!

Emmy peeping at her sister :) I think Emmy was hoping she'd get a turn next.

Smile Daddy!

I'm not sure what this thing was but we thought it would be fun to get our picture taken with it!

Abby and Lilah after the parade. (Lilah's sporting a temporary tattoo that grandma Betsy sent the other day) Emmy's hanging out on the blanket below... she didn't like that I was away from her and taking the picture. I think the knights and women in large dresses made her a little nervous because they were so close to us when the walked by.

Parade

This couple cracked me up!

This Knight looked just like James Blunt. He road up so close to us and Emmy really thought the horse was very cool! Her dad asked her the other day if she'd like to have one and she said YES! I'd love to board a horse someday close to our house. When the girls get old enough to start riding we'll look into it more.

The Kingdom of Paramithi

Here we are all ready to go!

On Saturday I took Emmy to see a live theater show of Cinderella played by the cast of The Kingdom of Paramithi. The girls watch this show a couple of times a week but I wasn't too sure how'd Emmy do in a live show. I had no need to worry though.....she LOVED it!! We have been to shows in the past and it's not the real cast that's on the shows or DVD's and I was so happy that all the real people were there. I'm sure the kids don't know half the time but it makes it better I think! If you don't know the show...here's a short You Tube video of the opening Theme Song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyrjK1I8wKw

It was soo cool. We got there early and got a spot right up front and when they came out on the stage the sound was loud and it was so dramatic. I really enjoyed it myself and smiled through the whole thing. Her favorite parts were of course the singing and dancing, but she laughed at alot of the slap stick comedy too. I was cracking up laughing at her when alot of the older kids were participating in shouting and pointing to "help" the characters figure something out. She'd look around at all of them with such a frown on her face. It was a total look of WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON!! hahhaha

The show lasted an hour and it was just the right amount of time. For a souvenir she got a clear cup that has flashing lights in the bottom of it that flashed all kinds of different colors. It looked super cool but when we put water into it I was amazed at how awesome it looked. This will be the favorite cup for a while I think :)

I meant to take along my pocket camera but forgot it. There was a part at the end when Prince Charming was dancing with Cinderella and all the little girls ran up to the stage and were standing on their tippy toes watching them dance. It was the cutest thing ever!! I really wish I could have had a picture of that...boo :(

Here's the The Kingdom of Paramithi website. I also found a video of the Prince Charming and Cinderella dancing together just like we saw. The only difference is there are TONS of children in the video and where we went wasn't crowded at all and that made it sooo nice.

Happy Fathers Day

To celebrate Fathers Day we're having a family picnic at Auntie Robins & Uncle Bob's house. This morning the girls brought Daddy a pretty card with 5x7's (inscriptions below with pictures) and a framed Purdue picture of them (the one above) for his desk at work. There is still one present to come and I'll post about that once he gets it.

Daddy,

You are the best dad because you hug me tight when I have trouble going to sleep. You are the best because you swing me every night. You are the best because you play kissy face with me in the mirror. You are the best dad because you are my dad and I love you very much!

Love, Lilah xo

Dear Daddy,

I love you very much! I love when you let me play with your hair when I'm tired. I love when you dance with me like Barbie & the prince. I love when we get to "garden" together in the backyard and I pick flowers for you. I love when you play "chase me" and I run as fast as I can. I know you love me very much too!

Love, Your Emmy Girl

Princess Wishes

Princess Wishes was pretty awesome! Emmy really took it all in and was amazed at all that was going on. She sat on her dad's lap the whole time and I held Lilah. She did get distracted by other children and would be watching what they were eating or doing, but I'd say "WOW" and she'd turn back around to see what she was missing.

First out was Tinker Bell so that was special for her. When I told her "the fairies are coming" and that got her attention and the lights went out and they announced the show was starting...

Poor little Lilah didn't like the noise. It was very loud. I felt really sorry for her, but I was able to get her to sleep by rocking her against me with one eat on my chest and covering the other ear with my hand. So she slept through nearly the entire show and I was grateful for that. I'd hate for her to be scared the whole time!

Considering the show was during Emmy's nap time she did SUPER WELL, but there was a melt down to come. We went out to lunch and she had her first FULL ON TEMPER TANTRUM in public! There was dropping to the floor, flailing arms and legs, screams and shrieks. How embarrassing! At first we tried to make her stop and that didn't work, so then we ignored it but that didn't work. I then took her outside to cool down but she fell and screamed harder. Once she felt okay she wanted to go back in and I hoped that she'd be good.......I was so wrong. Same bad attitude! We knew she had had a huge day, no nap, and was hungry, so we had some excuses for her, but next time I'm not sure what we'll do. Lets hope it doesn't happen again! lol

Disney Princess Wishes On Ice

I'm so super excited!!! We just got tickets to take the girls to see the Disney Princess Wishes On Ice! I got to see Beauty and the Beast on Ice when I was a kid and it was awesome! I know Emmy is a little young.......which only means we get to do it again again when these fun shows come through. I can't wait to see her face when she realizes what's going on and knows the characters. Tinker Bell will be there and that for sure will be a highlight for her!! I also can't wait to see all the cute girls all dressed up as their favorite princesses! Priceless!!

Below are some of the official pictures from the Disney Princess On Ice Website.
