Rain Rain Go Away... So Glad You Listened!

Despite being ill we have been outside in the backyard trying to enjoy some of the sunny weather. It's so nice to finally be getting a little bit of a summer glow. I also managed to plant 4 parlor palms and 3 clematis type vining plants outside the girls bedroom window. I hope they'll survive the summer heat and grow quickly. It'll be so nice to look out their window and see beautiful greenery and flowers rather than a nasty metal fence and bare lattice!uumm eating a homemade fruit pop

Will The Colds Ever End!?

The girls and I are sick again. I'm ssoooo tired of this and can't wait for it to end. Terrible sore throats, bad runny noses, and ear infections. After a week of symptom treating we were just as sick as ever so we went to the doctor yesterday. Now I have the joy of poking 3 doses per day per child of antibiotic for 10 days. YUCK! It's a good thing they don't mind it too much.

I thought I'd share some sicky photo's with you all. My poor babies!

Proud To Be Americans

Glitter Graphics

The girls' American Passports arrived today! They are now officially American Citizens!! We were on skype with my grandparents and Uncle Chip when the mailman came and I think it was very special to have shared that moment with them! They are so cute with their little pictures on it! Precious!

she can say MOM!

She has said her first word!! Lilah has done the 'mommomomomomom' cry for a long while, but this past monday she looked right at me with such a sad face and said "mom" and wanted me to pick her up. How cute is that and my mom and Kim got to hear it too!

Goodbye Mullet!

I finally did it! Tara you'd be proud of me :) Lilah's mullet is gone! All 3 inches of it! She totally didn't hold still for it, so I still have to do a bit of blending at the bottom of the nape to bring it in, but the tough part is done!

Sitting up and Scoots

Lilah can sit up so good now and enjoys doing it! She likes to roll and she's starting to scoot around too and goes backwards when she does it. Same with her walker... she goes backwards :) It won't be long and she'll be crawling then walking then getting married... oh my how the time will fly! xoxo I love you baby girl!

Teething Gel, Good for Babies, Good for Moms!

Lilah's second tooth popped through this morning! (her bottom left) I've been looking for it like crazy because she's been pretty darn fussy. Big hugs and kisses to Carolyn for picking up some super good teething gel from the hospital!! It really seems to help. It's also good for numbing bitten bleeding nips. She got me the other day with just a tiny bite, but she got me good a little bit ago with some blood. Ouch! I really hope this doesn't keep up.

7 Months Old

I have no idea now I messed up Lilah's weight converting from kg to lbs last month but I did. She was not 17 lbs 15 oz last month she was 16 lbs 1 oz and now she's 16 lbs 12 oz. She's gained 1.5 cm in length and o.5 cm in her head circumference. She's on a nice growing incline on her growth chart.

  • She's nearly sitting up on soft surfaces and can grab her toys from far away or roll to them quickly.
  • She been holding a sippy cup for a few weeks really well which is something that Emmy never did at this age.
  • She can say Mom!! It's the kind of "mom" that comes out when she's crying. I told Kim yesterday that "Oh she can say mom I think" and he replied "Yeah I know! She did it for an hour solid while you were gone today!" awww so sweet!
  • She continues to love to watch Emmy and play with her toys too.
  • She's showing great interest in watching Signing Time and will be able to communicate her needs more efficiently sooner than we think!
  • We're still breastfeeding and she's enjoying having snacks in the morning and a big veggie lunch and then some snacks from our dinner in the evening. Not a big eater in my opinion.

Our frist trip to the emergency room

We had to make an emergency run today to the hospital because Lilah was chocking on a bit of cookie wrapper. Emmy had been eating some My Little Pony cookies and gave her sister the empty wrapper. I didn't see that she had it, but my mom did and took it away from her.

I noticed that it looked like she had something in her mouth but it had been about 5 mins since she was standing in her walker and the bag was taken from her so I figured she must have done a little spit up in her mouth. I stuck my finger in there and couldn't find anything. She did a little gag so I offered her some water. Then she gagged more seriously. I grabbed her up and patted on her back and then mom took her and put her upside down and really started beating on her and I was looking in her mouth and I could see a silvery thing and I thought I could get it so I pushed down her tongue and I think I ended up pushing it down more. This is when I started freaking out because she was chocking and having foaming spit.

Mom said grab your keys and lets get to the hospital which is only a few blocks away. She continued to gag until we got there and as soon as she got inside the hospital it went down and she stopped gaging. We stayed there for about 30 min while they checked her out and she had normal oxygen levels and heart rate.

On the way to the hospital it was the longest drive of my life. I was shaking and couldn't think properly and was totally freaking out. It's a good thing my mom was here to be with her in the back seat while I could just concentrate on getting us there safely! I'm so relieved and happy that everything is alright. She most definitely will not get the opportunity again to play with an empty wrapper packaging or anything similar.

Earlier that morning we had just been to the hospital to meet with Kate, our weight and measure nurse for Lilah's 7 month old stats. My mom had said "oh I wish I could see what the emergency room looked like". I told her that it's her fault that ended up there because she sent out the secret.

Watch your babies closely. It's so scary when something like this happens and it can happen so quick.

2nd tooth

Grandma Betsy found Emmy's second tooth yesterday morning after we got up. It's the other front bottom tooth. She was a bit fussy the night before and had rosy cheeks so I gave her a dose of baby Tylenol and that helped her sleep through the night. She seems to be following my pattern of cutting teeth so I assume she'll be done for a while. I got my first two close together on the bottom and then didn't' get another one for several months and her dad didn't get his first tooth until 10 months old. So it'll be interesting to see if she completely follows my genetics on this one.

Here's a picture of her about a week ago. You can see her first tooth just broke through the skin, but now it is really sticking up and the second one looks this way.

4 generations

Mom and I dragged everyone to the photography place for a nice proper family picture. I think it came out great and I can't wait to frame them! 4 Generations here with My Grandparents, my Mother, my sisters, and my Daughter. (Emmy's old man pieces show real good in the color print haha)

first haircut

Emmy had her first haircut the other day and I just couldn't bring myself to do it so Auntie Tara stepped up to the plate and did the honors! She had all her fuzzy back hairs cut off and blended down into her "old man hairs" to give her a fashionable baby angled bob. She's very posh you know, lol. We also took her to Chucky Cheese and she had a blast! There wasn't too much she could do, but she road a few rides and had a good time watching the other children and the singing animatronics. Check out all the fun pictures!

She held still for her first hair cut!

Riding in the car was one of the rides just her size!

The slide was a bit fast for her...lol

Lemons...need I say more?

But she still wanted more and more hahaa

emmy's mall adventure

Emmy got her ear's pierced today! On the way to the mall I gave her a dose of baby Tylenol for pain prevention and she was such a happy little thing when we sat down to have it done and my mom and two sisters sang her "Itsy Bitsy Spider" while they marked her dots and then pierced them. She held super still since she's never seen three people all at once sing her FAVORITE song. After the click click she did a little cry but as soon as I stood up she stopped crying and just had little sniffles. I felt so scared and sad and sorry for her all at the same time. She's the proud wearer of 3 mm White Gold Balls with protective plastic backs so the posts can't poke her. It's been about 3-4 hours since she's had them done and hasn't touched them at all or acted like they have bugged her. I'm super excited at how cute she looks!!

teeth

Grandma Betsy found a baby tooth broke through on the bottom left this morning. It's her lower central incisor! How exciting! I hope the rest of her teething goes as smoothly as this one did. No crying, additional drooling, or fever. You can tell her lower lateral incisor should not be far behind despite the lack of redness.

For other update news... it shouldn't be long before she is crawling. She's starting to rock and try to pull up on her knees and if you give her ground from behind she can get up on all fours for a little bit before she falls.

patty cake

This morning Emmy surprised us all by doing patty cake all by herself! Grandma was sitting in her rocking chair and Emmy was playing on the floor and Grandma started singing it to her and Emmy joined in by clapping her hands. Now that may not sound that interesting or exciting to most people but I was elated! I was on skype with Kim at the time so that was nice that he was able to share in with the exciting moment! We also turned her car set around today and she really enjoyed looking about and made the car ride more pleasant for her.

7 months old

Emmy is in the fast lane for learning new things! She was 7 months old yesterday and we got her weighted today. She's 19 lbs 13.5 oz and can sit up independently now for a long time before she topples over. She's also started this week giving us "kisses". They are the classic open mouth wet baby kisses and we love them! When she's on her belly she sometimes makes a small attempt to pull her legs up and under here and then she'll just flop down on to her side and look at you. I think she knows that she wants to do something with them but she just doesn't know what yet. She is not motivated at all to get around and hasn't ever rolled and rolled across the room yet. She is also on a baby food strike but will take a bite of anything that is NOT baby food. This suits me just fine since I find the stuff pretty disgusting. Her new love is green beans and she'll really give her broccoli a go. Tonight she's going to try pasta and sauce for the first time so I'll be sure to snap a few photo's of the mess!
