What big girls you are! Emmy fell out of her swing a few times but she's a tough one and didn't cry. Maybe I shouldn't have pushed her so high...but she likes it!

Look how much I've grown!

This is what happens when you've got two girls at home! We play and play :) haha I couldn't believe how well Lilah filled out the doll stroller... so it was a good opportunity to compare photo's and show how much she's grown! Emmy also had her turn in it and laughed and laughed as we raced around the house. Gotta love wood floors!!

Sand Castles

Sunday we took the girls to Henley Beach. This was their first time going to one of my favorite spots! ( one of the perks for moving out here ) So it was nice and warm at home so we figured it would be just bearably to go to the beach, and we were right. It was very cold and windy, but Emmy loved playing in the sand and building sand castles with her dad. The sand on top wasn't wet enough to get us wet, but if you dug down a little bit it was damp enough to pack and hold shape. Dad would make them and she'd tear them down. Lilah didn't enjoy herself so much, but she was all bundled up and cocooned in the sling so she was just hibernating.

After that we went to a nice little park where Emmy got to swing high on the swings and run over a drawbridge and go down a big slide. I was watching from the car while I was feeding Lilah and I could see her do a big run across... sit her butt down on this HUGE tall slide and went down all by herself. She's such a little dare devil. Kim said that she gave him a nervous smile and then just went. So trusting!

Pete and REpeat haha She's definitely got her dad's eyes! And Emmy is just her dad all over!

Bad news is her Baby Dance class has been canceled for this term due to some health problems going on with the teacher's son. It was over before it began, but we'll sign up for next term. We'll go this week to Kinder Gym and see if that's something we want to sign up for. I'm sure it'll be a blast for her. From the pictures there's slides and a huge ball pit and places to jump and large play things. It was a huge hassle to take the stroller to baby dance since I had to go down a flight of stairs, but hopefully I'll be able to take one here for Lilah and it will work out great.

5 Months Old!

We've been getting tons of personality this past week! She's laughing more and always giving us big smiles. She loves to be loved by Emmy and will watch her very intensely for long periods of time. Which means it won't be long and she'll be learning all the naughty things to do haha!


She loves her bath time now! If it's just her bath then I lay her down in the water, but if Emmy is in the tub too then I prop Lilah up in her tub seat. Both the girls get a kick out of that trick!


Her sleeping patterns are still great. Long morning and afternoon naps in her co sleeper and then she'll usually be down for the night around 8-9 and will wake for a feed around 3 and then back to bed she goes until 7-8 am. I pop her into bed with me for her 3 am feed and cuddle her and she'll sleep about 2 hours before she wakes up and says "I want in my own bed" so I pop her into the co sleeper and she passes out. Strange to me!! Emmy never wanted to sleep away from us; let alone demand it.

Shes showing interest in cups so I've been giving her water that way (if offered she grabs for it and puts her mouth to it). She is not impressed by any sort of bottle, but I offer her water with several different ones through out the day hoping she'll give in one of these days and drink from it. She's had a few little bits of fresh pear and avocado, but doesn't show any interest in eating solids yet, which is just fine by me. When she's ready I'll be the first she'll let know! *smiles*


She still loves her fingers and hates pacifiers and that doesn't bother me in the least. As long as she's happy I'm happy! To give you an idea on her size she can still wear her newborn size socks. I think she's going to have itty bitty asian feet. In American sizes she's wearing 3-6 months and its snug or 6-9 months and its very loose and floppy. In Australian sizes she's in 00 and it fits her just right......not to big not to small.


Emmy at 5 Months was 18 lbs 6 oz or 8.42 kg and is 69 cm long or 27.17 inches long. I'm going to day to have Lilah weighed and measured.... so I'll update that information as soon as I get back! I can't wait to see how much Lilah has grown and the difference between her and Emmy!

UPDATE Okay I'm back......6.76 kg or 14 lbs 14 oz and last month she was 13 lbs 14 oz so that's an even pound gained! I'll have to still get her measured later in the week when we go to the hospital to meet with our dietitian.

updates and pictures

I met with my obgyn today and I'm delighted to report that I'm very happy with him and we got along great. I felt heard and not rushed so that always makes me happy. The doctor and I talked and then he did a quick ultrasound and blood pressure check. All is good in that area. I'll be going back on the metformin medication when my blood sugar levels consistently go up so no surprise there. I had to do another blood test today (this one will show my average of blood sugar levels for the past 3 months) I'm not sure why this is important other than for him to maybe see what is normal for me and my body? If anyone has any information on this please pass it along.

Emmy was the picture of perfection again and she played quietly in her pram for the duration of the visit. I'm crossing my fingers that this trend keeps up haha, but I'm sure I will not escape this pregnancy without her cracking up at least once in the doctors office. She is so funny though when she gets around strangers. She will not smile to save her life or make a sound. She is SO SHY! She just stares around at people and things and when someone talks to her she will cry if they are persistent but usually will just avoid eye contact until they go away.

I weighed her today in case things get too crazy towards the end of the week when she's technically 6 months old. She's a whopping 8.82 kg or 19 lbs 4 oz. I'll give her a measure tomorrow but I have a feeling that she's not really gained any length and she'll still be 69 cm but we'll see. From now until next Tuesday it's going to be pretty crazy around here. We don't have to leave the house until like 8:30-9 am so that'll make for a more normal morning before our trip.

Emmy's favorite food is pumpkin (which is what we Americans call butternut squash). I personally can't stand the stuff but I'm more than happy to see her enjoy a vegetable. It's been awhile since I've posted some pictures so here ya go...

Yesterdays scan was a lot of fun. Kim came home from work early to go with Emmy and I. The lady we had doing the scan was awesome. She was so nice and gave us lots of information. We could clearly see two arms and two legs kicking and waving around like crazy. I couldn't believe how much it was moving around and it looked like it was running in place. We could see the head, nose, and chin even though it's still very much bean like haha. She said the baby looked great and the placenta was in a really good location and should not cause any problems with the birth. Another interesting tid bit that she gave us that I did not know they could detect and didn't know about Emmy is that she could tell which side the egg came from. It's a righty haha. She could see the follicle that the ovary grew in response the FSH hormone that then released the egg into the fallopian tube. Pretty cool huh?

Kim's parents Jan & Kingsley are home from there fun gallivanting around Australia while we were left in the cold winter down here (so not fair!) haha. I was very interested to see how Emmy would handle being scooped up by them and if she'd cry since its been 6 weeks. She did great! She was weary of them and did lots of looking with a blank stare, but in the end she was giving smiles. It's obvious that she remembered them or at lease she felt they were familiar to her. Grandma brought her back a shirt from CooksTown and a cute blousey turtle neck shirt in plum and a plush red kitten rattle that she LOVES already and after her play with it this morning it was soaked. Thanks grandma!

BEAN: 10 weeks EMMY: 5 1/2 months

I had my first doctor appointment today for the new pregnancy. Everything was routine but I have some additional tests and appointments to complete before I can go on vacation. I'm showing slightly elevated blood sugar levels (already!) so to be on the safe side they're doing a full GTT test (glucose tolerance test) on Thursday morning and then in the afternoon I'll have an ultrasound to peek in and make sure everything looks good. Monday I'll meet with a new doctor to discuss my test results and then I'll be referred to a high risk pregnancy doctor for the GMD if need be and then go see that doctor before I leave. I'll be loving the 9 week break from doctors for sure!

Emmy did great at my appointment today. She sat in her pram very contently and then fell asleep for about 30 Min's and then woke up and watch me finish up the visit with a bit of blood taking and weighing (NOT my favorite parts!) Then we headed to the shops and took a nice walk around the main street of Gawler and she enjoyed another nap for the majority of the time. I wish I could sleep that much! haha

I'll keep you posted on the results.

**UPDATE** So I just got a call and I don't have to take the GTT yet! Yay! So that saves me from fasting, drinking two lots of nasty drinks, and three lots of blood being drawn! I'm not going to argue with that!

For lunch she ate all of her apples (1 Tbsp) and has mastered the use of her tongue. For dinner she had some avocado and this is the second time she's had it and we had some gagging action again. They say you have to expose a child to a food 10 times before they truly know if they dislike it or not... we have about 4 frozen meals of it so hopefully she'll decide it's yummy!

I've updated Emmy's baby book today and charted her weight and height for 5 months. She now weights 18 lbs 6 oz or 8.42 kg and is 69 cm long or 27.17 inches long. How that compares to last month is this: Shes gained 1 lbs 1 oz and is still in the 97 percentile for her weight. Shes not grown ANY length but is still off the charts for her length by being above the 100 percentile so I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Shes really good at rolling on to her side now and we're just waiting for her to figure out she can go all the way if she wants too. She also enjoys watching the dogs run around and I've caught her on more than one occasion talking to Brodie. When she's tired she's happy to be laid down for a nap and most nights now she's going to bed with out a fuss but we are still getting the odd night here and there where she's not that happy and is difficult to sooth. A car ride usually fixes her up, but we try not to use it alot since that's an expensive habit to form.

I was being fussy so Mom but the popsicle on my lips and it was soooo cold! At first I thought it was weird and then I liked it. Don't worry. I didn't get to eat any!
Life looks so boring for me, doesn't it? All I do is work work work!

5 whole months today!

Kim and I can't believe that Emmy's been here for 5 months already! Just crazy! Everyday now I look at her and I think at any given moment I'll be doing the same thing with a baby the same age in a year from now plus Emmy will be running around and talking. It just blows my mind to think about that. We are very blessed. I'll snap some cutie pictures today when she wakes up!
