So I wrecked the car yesterday. I'm fine and the baby is fine and lucky...Emmy was at home with Kim. We were in the market for a new car anyways and I just sped the process up I suppose. The old car is fixable and we'll keep it on as a work car for Kim but with Lilah coming in 2-3 weeks I think it'll be out of commission for a while until he has time to dig into it.
To make a long story short I was blinded by the sun and failed to see a white truck when I wanted to cross an intersection and I hit the poor man on his side panel. I'm grateful that I didn't pull out sooner as he would have hit me and he was going very fast and I was just pulling out from a stop sign. I won't pretend that I'm a good driver... we all know my track record, but I seriously wasn't doing anything stupid and I don't know how I didn't see him. The only thing I can think is his white truck was at my most sun blinding point as I did see other cars off in the distance that had just pulled out onto the street and thought I had time to cross.
Everyone was nice to me and mainly I was just shaken up, scared, sore and crying . The man I hit was consoling me which is pretty funny now looking back on it. He was probably praying that he wouldn't have to deliver a baby! I was worried I could cause early labor but everything came back normal and she was unstressed by the event.
My husband was super sweet and wasn't upset that I ruined our clunker at a very inappropriate time. Thanks honey! He promptly went out and bought us a brand new 60th Anniversary Edition Holden Commodore in color Sandstorm Metallic. (if you click on the links they take you to the official Holden site that shoes features and color). It's absolutely awesome and I get to pick it up on Monday after lunch. I can't wait!!
(this is not the color we got... ours is a much prettier champagne color)
Now I'm super nervous about hurting our new pretty car! I think I'll refrain from early morning and late evening sun blinding times when driving. I have been so good and super cautious since coming out here but I guess it was bound to happen at some point or another. I haven't had a wreck since July 2003 so here's to hoping I can go another 6 years or + without having to deal with this kinda stuff again!!
