Cousins At Grandma's House

Aww isn't this sweet!

I think Grandma Jan really liked this!

It's a rare photo when all four are in the picture....even more rare if they are all looking and smiling..... who am I kidding...that doesn't happen! lol

Emmy & Bethany playing Barbie and the Three Musketeers

It was a real lovefest! But they have a love hate relationship.... later in the day Lilah got a couple love bites on the face. Don't feel too sorry for Lilah.... she's got some sharp nails and likes to pinch...not to mention a biting habit of her own. She got grandma on the chest that day, and loves to bite her dad. She rarely bites me anymore because she knows that mommy gets very mad!

This is a nice way to end our pictorial!

Pick Your Battles

Here's a little something to gross you all out! Yesterday I was barefoot out on the front deck and there was a nail that had worked it's way up and I didn't see it but I sure did feel it. At first I thought that I just hurt my foot but I didn't expect to see what I saw when I looked. EEWWWW and boy did it hurt!!
I soaked it in some salt water, patted it dry, shoved the meat back in and stuck a band aid over it. It hurt alot less this morning when I got up and I could walk (hobble) a little better so I was quite happy with about it.

My grandparents and in laws both thought I should get a tetanus shot but I didn't really think I needed one and couldn't remember when I last had one but I could have had one before moving out here. I did have a prescription for the antibiotic Keflex and was prepared to have that filled if I thought it was getting infected. I talked to my mom about the shot and I looked up what Tetanus is..............it is something you definitely DO NOT want to have and it took me about 5 seconds to decide to call the doctor hahaa.
So I soaked it again and got it all cleaned up and put a new bandage on it and off we went. He took one look at it and said "You need antibiotic, Keflex 4 times a day for 5 days to keep infection away and also a tetanus shot."
I got my shot but I haven't filled the antibiotic yet. I think I'm going to wait and see if I need it. Lilah has been having urinary tract infections and we're trying to build up good bacterias in her body and I started taking probiotics so she'll get them through the breast milk and if I were to take an antibiotic that will undo everything we've been trying to do. So that will be a last resort.

As a side note. I'm reading a book called Healthy Mother...Better Breastfeeding right now and they talk about how important it is to take probiotics after a round of antibiotics because the baby get's all their good bacteria supply through your milk. At day four of Lilah's life we had to go back into the hospital because of mastitis and I was put onto 4 different types of antibiotics and didn't know at the time that afterwords I should take probiotics to make sure to restore all the bacteria that we destroyed in her little system. Long story short... I think this is the reason Lilah might have been more sickly and got colds in her first year of life. Compared to other breast babies it seemed like she was getting alot more colds and runny noses than they were and even though I knew I was doing the best for my baby by breastfeeding her I kind of felt like I was being cheated out of one of the biggest benefits and I didn't know why. I wish I would have found this out sooner, but you can only do better when you know better and that's why it's always important to learn as much as you can! I won't be making this mistake with our next baby *wink wink* take your probiotics girls!!

We Made A Magic Fairy Ring

I saw this project online a few months ago and thought it looked so fun and magical and I couldn't wait to do it with Emmy. This is something that we'll make again in the future when they are a bit older.

To make your own fairy ring you need:
  • Foil
  • Half Plastic Easter Egg
  • Skewer or stick
  • Paint
All you need to do is wrap the half of the easter egg in foil and have your skewer sticking out the bottom so you can stick it into the ground. Paint. Let dry and stick outside. Then do a fairy dance. We got our idea from Filth Wizardry.

Starting our first one! I got this all set up while Emmy was napping so when she woke up we could jump right into painting. She was so excited and happy. Painting is one of her passions!

We're almost done. Emmy had already rushed into the next step....and was wanting to spray some clear sealer on them.

They are all done and are now outside to dry!

Lilah and daddy played on the 4 wheeler while Emmy and I painted. She looks so precious! With that smile on her face you'd never guess she's such a whiny butt!

Bowling Birthday

After lunch & birthday cake we took Abby and the girls for some bowling. This was my first time bowling in AUS and first experiences for both Emmy and Lilah. The whole time we were there I kept thinking about the memories I have of spending time with my Grandpa and Grandma Walker. *smiles* I don't know what it is but there's something so warm and cosy feeling about a bowling alley!

Emmy loved to get the bowling ball and place it on the stand and give it a good push then she'd run off and start dancing. She had zero interest in actually knocking down the pins haha. They were playing music videos on the TV's and she was really getting into dancing to all the different types of music.

After seeing all of us bowling for a couple of games Lilah was very excited to have a turn!

Look at that form!!!

This is where Lilah was for most of the time. Parked right up by the front so she could see everything that was going on. This was also the first time I got to use the new stroller liner I made, thanks to Nic for the idea! It's not completed yet..... I cheated and just surged the raw edges instead of putting bias tape around it. It might get finished someday, but don't hold your breath!!

I can't remember what Emmy was upset about here. There's a good chance we didn't know then what she was upset about lol. She's famous for her dirty looks and you could ask her father and he'd probably say she gets it honest from her mother *smiles* hehe

Hello Jonny Depp LOL

A New Little Helper

Lilah was making it near impossible to do the dishes the other night so I put her up on the chair beside me and it worked like a charm. Afterwords I let her splash in the dishwater and snapped a few pictures.

This smile says "I can't believe mom is letting me do this!!!!"

She's a little shorty!!

Here she started to get silly and bring up the scrubber brush and let the water dump on her head. By the end she was soaked!!

Later that night after baths the girls both wanted to go for rides in their doll strollers but neither of them wanted to do the pushing haha so this is what we came up with! They loved it and it worked good. Emmy did really well at steering.

Singing in the Rain

We've been getting alot of rain lately and I thought Emmy would get a kick out of using her umbrella for it's intended purpose so I put on her rain boots and sent her out the door. She loved it and it was so fun to watch her. I'm sure I have started something now and the next time it rains she'll expect to go out and play in it. Oh well..... it's good for the soul!

The Easter Bunny Down Under

We had a wonderful Easter Day with Auntie Abby here. Grandma Betsy got to join us via Skype for a little bit of the Egg Hunting and chocolate feasting. At one point Emmy even tried to offer candy to Grandma Betsy through the computer screen. How cute!!
The day before Grandma Jan and Grandpa Kingsley brought over Easter presents for the girls. They each got some winter tights and some leggings and a couple chocolate eggs. Auntie Lia sent chocolate bunnies for the girls too! I think we have lucky girls who have a lot to be grateful for!

Mommy and Lilah coming out of the bedroom in the morning...... I think someone stopped by during the night!!

Oh wow! What a fun letter. I did this about 2 minutes before they came out of the bedroom so it's not too detailed lol

Lilah and Emmy having a good time collecting the Easter eggs from around the room and putting them into the basket.

Lilah did really well with adding her found eggs to the basket. She made us proud!
Emmy on the other hand wanted to OPEN each and every egg as she found it to see what what inside. hahaha dirty trick was I put the same whole chocolate egg inside each one, but she was delighted each time none-the-less!

What did you find baby girl?

Are you sure you want to sit up there and eat chocolate??? I think there may be alot more surprises to find!!

The MAGIC EGG was found!!! Inside is a map to find your Easter Present!!!! Lets go!!

Emmy and Daddy followed the map and found a really cool Bratz Doll that the Easter Bunny had dropped off. The Easter Bunny doesn't wrap things.....haha .....just drops them off.

It took Daddy a little bit to get it open and working.

Her name is Jade and she roller skates! The best part is that she actually does what she is suppose to and she doesn't fall down!

Lilah was IN LOVE with this doll. It's a good thing her sister is a wonderful sharer!

The girls still had to find their Easter Baskets. Emmy found both hers and Lilah's hidden in the washing machine. Her first favorite thing she pulled out of it was a little chick that tweets when you hold it in your palm.

She was looking so lovingly at her baby chick.

She also got a Dora the Explorer, Huge Chocolate Bunny, Giant Egg, and tons of misc candy and junk!

Sister Love

This was the other morning. Emmy usually watches Dora the Explorer while having some morning milk, but very rarely does Lilah lay down and watch TV too. Here they are both with their big baby dolls snuggled up together. It lasted all of 5 minutes. LOL

Last Day in Fairy Dance Class

Yesterday was the last day for fairy dancing minus the two make up days we were also doing this week. Emmy left class last time near the end crying and we couldn't figure out why. My gut tells me that she may have hurt herself somehow on her own like biting her tongue or stubbing a toe, but cause both her teacher and I didn't see anything happen to make her start crying and want to leave class. I comforted her and tried to get her to go back in, but she wasn't going to have it. That following weekend she went to a birthday party at the fairies and did dancing and crafts and had a great time. Now....we're back to yesterday. I'll tell you the rest as we go through the photo's.....

Here she is having a good time before class and watching herself in the mirror as she ran around and danced.

I'm asking her to look and smile at me, but all I got was the look at me part LOL She's holding her "fairy sticker book" and she turns it in at the beginning of every class and at the end she gets to add a new sticker to it from the teacher! It's very special to her!

Here we are at "quiet time" right before they go into the class room to fairy dance.

She went in the room...........and right on out she came!!! I gave her hugs and even bought her some Harmony & Rhapsody to bribe her to go back in since it was the last day and they would be filming the class and allowing parental participation. NO WAY SHE SAID! OH well. I wasn't too heart broken. I was ready for it to be over for a while too.

Lilah was an angel ...................for once!
I also canceled the two lessons for later this week. It's alot of work to get two babies out the door before 8:30 and a bit of a drive away and if she's not having fun at class then there's no point in taking up a spot another little girl could use as a make up day before the term ends. We'll do fairy dancing again next year when Lilah can do it too! XO
